In this article, we explain how JDE will use the instructions entered in the Maintenance Rules to decide how the Work Order generation from the PM services will happen--when to do it, what to do, and which information to use. For more details on how to use PM Associations, and how this Maintenance Rule value works, see Designing a Maintenance Plan for JD Edwards by Alberto van Oordt, in the October 2015 issue of JDEtips Knowledge Express.

The Equipment Billing module is one of the most beneficial, yet overlooked, modules in the Capital Asset Management suite of products. Simply put, it allows a company that owns equipment to be able to utilize that equipment within various Business Units (BUs) or Jobs, and allocate the costs accordingly. In essence, it is the internal equivalent of an equipment rentals system.
We all know that WYSIWYG is supposed to mean "What you see is what you get", don't we? Well, I'll bet you've figured out by now that what you see is not, in fact, always what you get. This appears to be the case where Work Order instructions are involved, and especially so when you are moving from World to EnterpriseOne. Scott Hollowell shows us how to come closer to getting what we want to see!
This article brings to mind that "miscellaneous" folder in our filing cabinets. It was so convenient when it was established years ago, but now? Who knows what's even in there? Scott Hollowell has found the same thing happening with the use of Standing Work Orders and has taken the time to show us how we got there, how to get out of it, and more importantly – how to keep from getting there in the first place. This article contains some fine guidelines for effective use of Standing WOs without having them fall into that black hole.

In this article, Scott Hollowell gives us a rear-view-mirror picture of how EAM got here, then follows up with a snapshot of where things are going. In his usual concise style, Scott not only provides excellent perspective, but also hits the highlights of changes and enhancements in the Equipment Management modules.
If you stare at the menu option for Supplemental Data on the Equipment Maintenance menu for a long time, it appears to move slightly, but that's all it does. Until you read this article! Scott explains all in his typical "waste no time -- take no prisoners" style. After reading this, you'll be able to satisfy all those users with all their "where do we put this data?" needs.

Scott Hollowell was inspired to write this article having observed perfectly knowledgeable and capable (and formerly sane) users pulling their hair out trying to get their meter readings to behave the way they wanted them to. Scott brings his usual clarity to bear on the terminology, work flow, and how to interpret the results.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy some of Scott's favorite tips aimed at preventing that dreaded bugaboo--reworking your setup if you go live with Fixed Assets prior to going live with Maintenance. Scott shows you how to do it right from the beginning!
